Talk While Travelling With a Walkie Talkie

Globalization of the world has led to a new search of a vast and an expanding means of communication that can join the world through a single string of communication. Internet acts as one such means of communications. But in search of this single medium for communication, one important factor that becomes very important is the local communication. For local events and emergencies we cannot rely on the internet or other such sources. For these we require fast and swift messaging services such as the walkie talkies which most of the emergency fighting departments such as the police, fire or ambulances have. These radios make use of 2 way radio systems to transmit messages to different radios on a fixed frequency that is allotted to it.

Walkie talkies gives a better proficiency when you are mobile or going somewhere. Most of the police departments of the world make use of these radios to get updates on any criminal activity or calamity or emergencies that may have arose in the nearby areas. The other type of radio is the stationery radios which again make use of the radio systems for transmission of messages but they are stationery at one place such as the police control room. These are available in various features so one can obtain the radio that fits their preferences. Various technological advances in the field of communication have made these radios obsolete but still they are considered to be the safest and the fastest means of communication by the world and hence it retains its place for fighting emergencies.

Advancement of Radio Technologies with the TETRA Radio

Radios have been featured a lot in the past but off late people have started moving towards more advanced technologies such as the mobile phones and the internet. Even then these radios are being used in the defence and safety departments of various countries. The technological advancements have also been made in the radio technologies and people have started to move from the DMR radio to the TETRA radio which is the latest in the technology as of now. These radios are further advancements of the trunked radio technology that has been used for the emergency services and at airports and metro train stations throughout the world.

Trunked radio offers you with a solution of minimizing the number of lines that would be required if many people would have wanted to connect at the same time. TETRA radio further advances the same technology and offers the following upgrades:
  • Lowers the cost of infrastructure which would have been more in case these radios were not used.
  • It uses small frequency transmitters and hence the depth of penetration of the signals is greater and hence a larger area is covered in the same amount of signals for which other radios would have required great signal strength.
  • Works well in low signal areas wherein other radios would require installation of repeaters. Hence acts as a cost saver.
  • Transfers and receives data at a comparatively very fast speed as compared to other normal radios.
  • Can receive and transmit encrypted signals at both the user ends.

Connecting Through the Trunking Systems

The working of a Trunking Systems for people who are not aware of the term can be said to functioning the same way as a trunk of a tree that connects all the different branches of a tree to the roots of the tree. It acts as a medium or a bridge between the two. The same way this system works by connecting different tetra radio with a common base station. The science was not invented for the radio industry but has been taken from the telephone technology where trunking was used for STD connections.

Trunking systems helps in:
  • Minimizing the total number of lines required otherwise for any project related to one to many or many to many connections.
  • The infrastructure and the raw material required for the same also gets reduced drastically.
  • The total number of lines that would have remained idle otherwise will be reduced as trunking system itself finds an empty line for transmission and receiving of messages which otherwise would require one line each for receiving and transmitting messages. Multiply these with the total number of users that would be transmitting and receiving messages at a time and you would know that the lines required for such connections can go as high as a million.
  • The trunking systems reduces the hassle of maintaining so many lines and provides a hassle-free solution for establishing the same number of connections with a minimum number of lines.
  • The system is a boon for services related to defense and emergency as minimum number of lines to handle makes it easier and swifter to transfer messages.

The Latest Covert Radio is Both Sleek and Useful

In the wide range of two way radios, Covert radio is very popular. It is being used by the police and other armed forces. It is useful to police officers to get in touch with the other team mates patrolling in other areas. They can stay connected with the police head quarters.

The latest X1e Covert radio is very popular. This power packed radio is the smallest available in the DMR range of radios. One must not get carried away with its elegance and small size. This model is quite tough and known for its utility. The police force finds its blue tooth function advantageous. They use this application to send messages and images. It can be used at ease because it is IP67 protected. It comes with exclusive headphones and a microphone that stays hidden beneath the shirt collar. The additional accessories include a hand control and a supple aerial. The radio has a high durability.

The radio has a wide range. It can identify the voice of the chosen person. It is indeed a matter of wonder that this small tool can identify the voice of the user and the person needing help. The other variety is the licence free radio.

A Licence free radio works on a common eight channel shared with others using the same wavelength. Your conversation can be overheard by other PMR 446S model or it can disturb your conversation. This is the only disadvantage that the radio has. These radios are inexpensive and need no licence to operate. It has a maximum range of 3 Km and is mainly used for entertainment. These Licence free radios are normally what the young children use, when they are out playing and need to be linked with people at home.

Covert Radio – A Small and Easy To Hide Radio

Electromagnetic waves of radio since 1870s have created a revolution in the field of communication and IT. Immediately after its invention, radio became one of the most powerful modes of communication of its time. Although, at present we use radio may be only for listening songs or for the entertaining programs it offers, with the passage of time, some people have recognized many of the benefits the technology of radio has to offer and created different kinds of radios. It can range from license free radio to licensed radios. Electronic gadgets making companies produce different kinds of radios considering its utilities. Some of the kinds of radios are briefly introduced in this article.

Let me first start with Covert Radio. The name itself suggests its utility. Yes, it’s a hidden radio which can be inbuilt in any of your electronic devices. Some companies even produce it in such a way that it matches with your skin colour and can be inserted in your ear. Then there is this 2 way radio. Using this kind of radio one can communicate with other radios having similar frequency. So here, the transmission is both ways. Even in this kind of radios, there are digital two way radios and analogue radios. Digital radios are the advance ones as they facilitate transmission of texts also.

And then there is PMR radio i.e. Private Mobile Radio that is license free radio for private and commercial use available in majority of the countries of the world.

Establishing a Mobile Radio Standard with DMR

Radios have been used extensively all throughout the time in different parts of the world for one or the other purpose. The radios have been used for defense purposes, emergency purposes, entertainment purpose, communication purpose and many such purposes. These are called radio as they make use of radio waves for establishing connection between transmitter and the receiver. As of now, the most upcoming field where these radio waves are being used is the DMR or the Digital Mobile Radio. These are considered to be the next big thing in the field of communication. The only drawback of radio waves is that they are prone to signal losses and other attenuation. This problem is likely to be solved by using wireless repeater that can be placed at some distance from the transmitter.

This wireless repeater receives the signal from the transmitter and re-processes the signal and converts it into a strong signal in the form of a zero phase wavelet pulse. The only problem that might be faced is that a number of such repeaters would be required to cover long distances and at every repeater there is going to be a signal loss.
DMR has been recognized as an established standard in the field of mobile radios and there are researches going on to improve on the technology so that it can be extended to a global level.
The only problem that is being faced while trying to go on a global scale is the cost of infrastructure that would increase drastically with the current technologies that are available.
